The Gatton Girls: from a long lunch to Tasmania

For Sam and her friends, it began with a long lunch and a simple idea.

"We should do something for our 50th."

It had been more than 30 years since their university days.

In between had been careers, children, distance, loss and all the things life brings.

So they decided to do more than simply catch up.

They gathered a group, created a WhatsApp chat and began planning an adventure together.

The result was a tailored GirlsTrek experience in Tasmania.

Twelve women.

Some who hadn't seen each other in decades.

What began as an idea became something much more meaningful.

As Sam explained, there was something about walking together.
