Why Women Love Going Wild in Lamington National Park
Do notice something different about a weekend in the wilderness?
Not a holiday. Not a retreat. Not a tour.
Something simpler, deeper, and far more powerful.
Our GO WILD weekends were created for women who want to step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with themselves through nature, movement and challenge. One of the most loved of these adventures is our Lamington National Park trek, a three-day hiking escape into one of the most beautiful rainforests in Australia.
We asked Lisa, the guide who designed and leads the trip, why this weekend means so much to the women who come.
Why Go Wild?
“When I think about the most meaningful experiences I’ve had in the wilderness, it’s the times when I’ve been completely unplugged from modern-day demands that come to mind first.
Nature has the power to restore us, balance us, calm our nervous systems and help us breathe deeper and let go.
I love going wild because it reminds me how small most of our everyday problems really are.
I always come home feeling topped up.”
GO WILD weekends are designed for women who enjoy being active and want a challenge — but also want the reward that comes with it. Longer walks, bigger days, and that incredible feeling at the end of the weekend when you realise what you are capable of.
Why Lamington?
Lamington National Park is part of the ancient Gondwana rainforest and is one of the most spectacular hiking destinations in Queensland.
“This beautiful, ancient rainforest is one of the most scenic, magical places we have here in South-East Queensland.
There are huge trees, waterfalls, ridgelines, birdlife and endless trails to explore.
We stay at Binna Burra Lodge right inside the National Park, so there’s a real sense of being out in the wilderness — but with a few creature comforts.
Each day we walk straight from the lodge, which means more time on the trails and less time worrying about logistics.”
What the Experience Feels Like
“I love long hikes, and I love waterfalls, so this trip has always been special to me.
We wake up, have breakfast, step straight onto the trail and spend the day exploring ancient rainforest.
One of my favourite moments is standing at Ships Stern looking out across the Scenic Rim…
and then later that night sitting around the fire pit, tired but happy, knowing we’ve walked a long way together.”
It’s often these simple moments that women remember most.
Boots off.
Glass of wine in hand.
Stories being shared.
And that quiet feeling of accomplishment.
Who Loves This Trip Most?
“The woman who almost didn’t come.
The one who thought she didn’t have time, or wasn’t sure she was fit enough, or hadn’t taken a weekend for herself in years.
She arrives unsure… and leaves feeling strong, clear-headed and proud.”
Why We Only Run It Once a Year
GO WILD Lamington is offered just once each year in winter, when the weather is perfect for hiking in Queensland — cool days, clear air, and crisp evenings around the fire.
It’s close enough to reach easily, but once you’re there, it feels like a world away.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.
